Description
This is a compilation of 23 tonal miniatures, written for various occasions and organized into five suites. It is a collection of short pieces intended for upper elementary school students to adult piano enthusiasts. The pieces can be performed as suites, individually, or utilized for sight-reading practice. Many of the pieces bear eccentric titles.
The First Suite consists of six pieces with programmatic tendencies:
- Your John's Strolling Mood
- By the Fireplace (On a Snowy Night...)
- Kamakura Zigeuner
- How About a Lemon Exchanger?
- Momotaro on TV, or The Tenor Singer
- Bye-Bye Song
The Second Suite comprises five pieces with dance-like tendencies:
- Commonplace Dance
- Pancakes of My Heart
- Dancing Cat and Uncle
- Gourd-like Days (Marco's Barcarolle)
- Circus Diary
The Third Suite contains four pieces:
- Three Inventions (For Ladies, For Gentlemen, Canzone of the After-Festival)
- Garden Clowns
- Small Dance
- Ballade
The Fourth Suite features four pieces with contrapuntal tendencies:
- Aubade
- Princess Pulcherie the Frog and Her Goby Groom
- Intermezzo (Look, There's Wolfgang...)
- Shepherd's Song
The Fifth Suite includes four pieces with late-Romantic musical ideas:
- Consolation 1
- Consolation 2
- Caprice
- The King's Dummy
Each piece is approximately 1 to 3 minutes long, with each suite lasting less than 10 minutes.
