Composer's Notes
These pieces were written purely (?), without any specific intention of public performance or presentation. Therefore, I believe I wrote what I most wanted to write, in the way I wanted to write it, at that particular time. I hope to continue accumulating such pieces in the future. Each piece is exceedingly short and fragmentary. One might even say they contain an element of self-portraiture.
1. Irresistible Sound The left-hand melody sings, accompanied by a right-hand figuration played at a constant tempo. It gradually becomes improvisatory, as if seeking freedom, but ultimately is drawn back and fades away, as if enticed by the right-hand figuration.
2. Scent of the Lake Surface An image of a lake in a forest, with the moon and starry sky reflected upon it. Illuminated by soft light, the lake becomes even more beautiful, emitting a mysterious glow. There is nothing but a profoundly quiet night.
3. White Path A floating waltz, like dozing off on a warm afternoon. Notably, this piece is quoted in my work Arcadia (an electroacoustic piece).
4. Atmosphere Dwelling in the Forest As the title suggests, this piece depicts a scene within a forest. Upon entering the forest, it is slightly misty, with the swaying of leaves and treetops, the rustling of birds and small animals, and a melancholic song heard from somewhere. These sounds gradually dissolve into the forest's silence, but eventually return to the initial scene as if waking from a dream.
5. What the Merry-Go-Round Saw A merry-go-round offers a small journey. It shows various landscapes and plays cheerful music. It is a dream-like world just for oneself. However, when the wooden horse returns to the same spot, strangely, the scenery from that moment appears different, just as things seen in childhood change their appearance as one grows older. Nevertheless, the wooden horse continues to turn, and it seems to symbolize us, who live out our monotonous daily lives.
