An album featuring six representative songs by Paul Mauriat, who reigned supreme in the easy-listening world from the 1960s to the 1980s, arranged for piano duet. The selection of pieces, which can be described as definitive and perfectly balanced, is excellent, and the sophisticated arranging sense of Hiroshi Haji, who was well-versed in both classical and jazz music, also shines through. From Mr. Haji's own preface, it is evident that he deeply understood the essence of piano duets and approached the arrangements with a high level of awareness. The arrangements are based on Paul Mauriat's own most authentic versions, characterized by their firm and flowing sound. Mr. Haji's arrangements are simply superb, doing everything necessary without omitting anything, and doing nothing superfluous. They never get tiresome, no matter how many times they are played. Paul Mauriat was listened to worldwide and affectionately known by the moniker "The Emperor." This treasure trove of incredibly nostalgic melodies for a certain generation and older is something that younger generations should also discover and enjoy.
