French organist and composer. He studied at the Paris Conservatoire under G. Caussade, P. Ducasse, Roger-Ducasse, and M. Dupré. He excelled in improvisation and served as church organist in Maisons-Laffitte. Tragically, he was killed in action during World War II, and his talent was greatly lamented.
Ninety-three works, including organ pieces, piano pieces, and masses, composed between 1929 and 1939, remain, all characterized by a highly personal quality. His organ works became widely known through the performances of his sister, the internationally acclaimed organist Marie-Claire Alain.
