Born in Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka City (formerly Shimizu City) in 1967. In 1993, he completed the Master's program at the Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University. In the same year, he joined Yamaha Corporation, engaging in acoustic technology-related businesses such as the development of soundproofing devices. In 1996, he was dispatched to L&H Japan Co., Ltd., where he began research on speech synthesis. He returned to Yamaha Corporation in 1999. In March 2000, he began the development of "VOCALOID" as the leader of a research team, and the first product was released in 2004. In 2012, he became the VOCALOID Project Leader at the Yamaha+ Promotion Office of the same company. Currently, he is a Chief Specialist at the Development Management Department, Sound Business Division, Yamaha Corporation.
Hideki Kenmochi
Known as "the father of VOCALOID" is the SA Group Team leader of YAMAHA Sound Technology Development Center. In 2000 he began the first developments with a team at the Pompeu Fabra University in Spain. VOCALOID was not originally intended to be a commercial product. He continued to be an important figure with the development of the VOCALOID software up until the announcement of his retirement on January 30th, 2015.
