Graduated from the Composition Department of the Faculty of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts, and completed graduate studies at the same university. He won first prize in the Composition Division (Orchestral Work) at the 53rd Japan Music Competition. His commissioned work "Symphonic Ballad" premiered at the 14th Min-On Contemporary Music Festival. He has numerous works including orchestral, chamber, choral, piano, and violin pieces. The children's chorus suite "To Tomorrow," commissioned by Yokohama City, was performed by the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Naoto Otomo and elementary school students residing in Yokohama. His Violin Concerto was performed by Yayoi Toda (Vn) with the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra conducted by Naohiro Totsuka, and by Keiko Urushihara (Vn) with the New Japan Philharmonic conducted by Kazuhiko Komatsu. Additionally, his orchestral work "From the Space of Light and Shadow – for Orchestra" was performed in Seoul, Shanghai, and Hanoi, receiving high acclaim in all locations. His extensive 40-minute Piano Sonata was recorded on the CD "Mamiko Tomari Plays Two Great Piano Sonatas," received high praise in the Mainichi Shimbun, and was selected as a special recommendation by Record Geijutsu magazine.
His activities as a pianist are diverse, encompassing collaborations and CD recordings with leading domestic and international artists such as the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Kazufumi Yamashita, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra conducted by Norichika Iimori, Yayoi Toda, Akiko Mikami, Toshiyuki Usuka, Eiko Seyama, Hidemi Sangai, Munju Choi, and Adalberto Scochich, as well as premieres of new works, and theatrical accompaniment at venues like the New National Theatre. His publications include "Bach: The Well-Tempered Clavier Book 1 – Analytical Notes for Performance 1 & 2" (Ongaku No Tomo Sha).
Currently, he serves as a Professor of Piano at Tokyo College of Music, a part-time lecturer in the Composition Department at Tokyo University of the Arts, the Composition and Theory Department at Toho Gakuen School of Music, and the Music Department at Jin-ai Women's Junior College, among others, actively engaging in educational activities.
