C major. The famous French folk song "Ah, vous dirai-je, Maman," known as the theme for Mozart's Variations K. 265, is used as the melody. It is a two-voice canon where the right hand's melody is followed by the right hand itself, one measure later. Since the melody contains successive repeated notes, it is necessary to articulate these notes clearly.
