A composer, writer, and pianist born in northern England. He showed musical talent from an early age and entered the Hoch Conservatory in Frankfurt at the age of 12, where he studied under Humperdinck and others. From 1898, he was active primarily in Liverpool, leaving behind numerous works ranging from large-scale compositions such as symphonies and piano concertos to Impressionistic piano pieces and songs.
Scott's works were frequently performed between the two World Wars, but after the wars, he was not widely regarded as an important composer and tended to be dismissed as a mere imitator of Debussy or Scriabin. However, in recent years, there has been a growing movement towards his re-evaluation.
