Johann Georg Leopold Mozart was born in Augsburg as the eldest son of a father who worked as a bookbinder. He was a prominent musician of his time, serving as Kapellmeister at the court of the Archbishop of Salzburg. He left many achievements as a composer and educator, including a violin method book that became widely popular throughout Europe. However, today he is particularly famous as the father of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. After the age of 40, he composed less and focused his efforts on his son's education.
