The main key is C major, and it is in binary form.
- A [a (measures 1-4) + b (measures 5-12)]
- B [c (measures 13-16) + b1 (measures 17-24)]
The opening four measures, with their gentle ascending and descending motion, form a half cadence, evoking the elegant atmosphere characteristic of a minuet. A distinctive movement occurs in the following measures 5-8, where, unlike the preceding harmonic motion, the chords progress at an interval of one chord every two measures. Consequently, these four measures are perceived as a larger phrase moving every two measures. Although a different movement begins from measure 9, this can be interpreted as an expansion of the flow from measures 5-8 into the subsequent movement. Therefore, the section from measure 5 to measure 12 is broadly designated as the b section.
From measure 14 begins the latter section. The commas in measures 14 and 15 are presumed to indicate a division, similar to a breath mark. From measure 18, it is a variation of the b section. This brings a sense of unity by featuring common characteristics in the latter half of each large section.
