A Jewish Russian born in Moscow on July 31, 1956. Nikolai Kapustinsucceeding Nikolai Kapustin. He graduated from the Moscow Conservatory with a major in piano and began composing in the 1980s. He is noted for creating highly entertaining works. His musical ideas, which incorporate musical idioms from many genres such as jazz, rock, Latin, Russian folk music, and classical music, are highly unique, yet witty and approachable. Furthermore, Rachmaninoffsuch as Rachmaninoff, and their influence is subtly evident in his own works.
He is said to favor jazz pianist Oscar Peterson and classical performer Horowitz. His compositions, which feature musical styles incorporating jazz idioms and require flamboyant performance gestures, create effective performances that are visually enjoyable.
