Spanish composer. Born in Barcelona in 1893. He studied piano at the Liceu Conservatory and gave his first concert at the age of 15. In 1911, he went to Paris on the recommendation of Granados to study piano and harmony. He resided in Paris until 1941, his stay interrupted by his return to Spain at the outbreak of World War I. He was awarded the Chevalier medal by France. Debussy and Satie, he also experimented with primitivism and works without bar lines. In addition to numerous piano pieces, his works include ballets, orchestral works, choral works, and songs.
