Obtained a Master's degree from Keio University and Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg with a thesis on Robert Schumann's Lieder. Obtained a Ph.D. from the University of Zurich with a dissertation on middle movements in Franz Schubert's instrumental works. Currently a JSPS Postdoctoral Fellow (PD) at Hitotsubashi University, and a part-time lecturer at Aoyama Gakuin University and Keio University. His main research area is 19th-century German-speaking music. His translated works include Hans-Joachim Hinrichsen's Bruckner: Symphonies (Shunjusha, 2018).
He has studied piano under Fumiko Omori, Mineko Tsuchiya, Naoyuki Inoue, Avo Kuyumjian, and others, and has received awards including 2nd Prize in the High School Division of the Piano Section at the 59th All Japan Student Music Competition Tokyo Tournament (2006), the Harushi Prize at the Vienna Melos Music Seminar (2006), and 3rd Prize in the General Division at the 15th Japan Mozart Music Competition (2011).
